What to expect on the first visit? We will have a conversation about your pain, limitations, and specific goals. We will then get into a detailed movement assessment to determine the source of your symptoms. We will give you a clear answer to what you have, what you need to do about it, and how long it would take to resolve your condition. All treatments begin on the first visit itself.

I’ve tried physical therapy and other treatments in the past which didn’t help. How will coming to you be any different? Our unique assessment enables us to establish a direct cause-and-effect relationship between your symptoms and movements to determine whether your pain and loss of function are due to a structural, mechanical, or chemical issue. This methodology is highly reliable in identifying the true source of your problem and over 90% of spine and extremity pain patients respond favorably to our approach. When your condition is deemed inappropriate for mechanical therapy, a prompt referral to a more suitable medical professional is advised.

Do you accept my insurance?Yes. We accept PPO/POS plans of most commercial payers like Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Amerihealth, to name a few. We are a Medicare-participating provider as well. To leverage the physical therapy benefits of your commercial plan while providing the highest quality one-on-one care, we take full payment at the time of service and submit the claims on your behalf to your insurance company. Based on your physical therapy coverage and benefits the insurance company then mails a refund directly to you. We accept HSA/FSA and all major credit/debit cards. We also offer flexible payment plans if you're uninsured, or your plan doesn't have physical therapy benefits.

Do I need a referral from my physician to get started?Nope! New Jersey is a direct access state. Patients can go directly to a physical therapist without a physician’s referral and receive treatment for up to 30 days.

Why is one-on-one care so important?Insurance reimbursement and pre-certification limitations have forced clinics to schedule multiple patients with one therapist to keep the business afloat. Detailed assessments and hands-on treatments take a back seat while care is assigned to assistants and technicians with generic exercises to keep you ‘busy’. No wonder so many patients are either stuck in therapy for months or quit for lack of improvement. Does your hairstylist work with two other clients at the same time? Then why should you compromise with the shared attention of your therapist when your health is at stake? We refuse to play this high-volume game and only prioritize your recovery which deserves our utmost attention to help you get back to your previous self in the most efficient manner possible.

What makes SEVA different from other traditional physical therapy clinics?Personalized care. Superior results. We provide one-on-one sessions with a board-certified specialist who will design a customized plan for your problem to get you better in the least number of visits possible. Many patients experience improvement after the first visit itself. We were recognized in the Top 1% of all practices in the country in 2023 for the most effective and efficient orthopedic care by the renowned FOTO organization. Treatment is provided in private rooms, and visits are only scheduled as needed to build upon the improvement made in the previous sessions. The home program is customized, simple and usually involves only one exercise or position to be repeated a few times daily. You are never alone in your recovery. Communicate with our specialist via a secure text-based app between your visits, after hours, and on weekends with any questions or concerns! Experience top-notch care to reach your goals quickly and conveniently with less time away from home or work.

Can you help me if my MRI shows a herniated disc, arthritis, or tendonitis?Abnormalities on an MRI of the spine, joints, and muscles are routinely detected in people without any pain and the incidence is greater as we age. While the presence of a tumor is abnormal, other findings like degeneration, arthritis, bulging disc/herniation, tendonitis, bursitis, and partial tears are common, and should not be associated with your pain without a systematic clinical exam. Patients with such “abnormalities” often do remarkably well with our approach. Feel free to discuss your case with our specialist in New Jersey over a complimentary phone call.

I've tried physical therapy in the past including McKenzie exercises that didn't help. How are you different? Most practitioners utilize 'McKenzie' as an exercise or a series of exercises that often turn out to be ineffective in the absence of a structured examination. A treatment is effective only if it is matched optimally to the precise diagnosis. Our advanced training in the McKenzie Method allows us to execute it in its purest form by establishing a distinct 'cause and effect' relationship between symptoms and movement, thereby succeeding where others may have failed.

My MRI shows a herniated disc. Can you help?Disc degeneration, bulging or herniation are extremely common findings often seen in people even WITHOUT back pain (see figure below). American Journal of Neuroradiology April 2015, 36 (4) 811-816; DOI: https://doi.org/10.3174/ajnr.A4173 You need not attribute your pain to just the findings on the image. Patients with such impressions do remarkably well with conservative care options. Call to speak with our specialists to understand more about how we could help.
